BUYING AT AUCTION WITH JONES & LLEWELYN

 

ATTENDING THE SALE  This can be a most interesting and exciting way of buying something you collect, need or will just enjoy owning.

 

DO INSPECT the items thoroughly that you are considering purchasing before bidding.  This can be done on the viewing day prior to the sale ( 3-7p.m.) of the morning of the sale 9-10a.m.

 

Prospective purchasers are also advised to decide on their maximum price before actually bidding and the auctioneers and staff will be pleased to assist in this matter.

 

DO OBTAIN A BIDDING CARD by registering for a bidding number at the office, an initial attraction of the Auctioneer’s attention will ensure an opening bid, and as the bidding increases, further acknowledgement at required intervals is all that is necessary.  When your bid is successful the Auctioneer will ask for a sight of number allocated to you and you are advised to record the price and lot number on your bidding card.

 

DO NOT WORRY if you are unable to attend the actual sale or wish to leave before the last lot is offered the Auctioneers and Staff will be pleased to accept commission bids, and enter your bid against the buyers attending the sale.  This is a free service and successful purchasers are notified by post or telephone the first working day following the sale.

 

The sale will usually be conducted at a rate of approximately 180-200 lots per hour.  A 10% Buyer’s Premium exclusive of VAT is charged on all lots.

 

Payment must be made on the day of the sale, either by cash or cheque supported by a Banker’s Card or Building Society Cheque or Credit Card (fee payable for this service) or by special arrangement with the Auctioneers.

CONDITIONS OF SALE

 

1.                    The highest bidder to be the purchaser and no person shall retract bidding.  The advance on each lot to be determined by the Auctioneers who reserve to themselves the right of refusing any bidding and of altering, adding to, dividing, consolidating, or withdrawing any lot or lots at the Sale.

 

2.                    Should any dispute or difficulty arise between two or more bidders, or otherwise, the lot or lots in dispute may be put up again or the purchaser declared, at the discretion of the Auctioneers, who are to be the sale arbitrators as to the amount of bidding, and every other matter connected with the Sale, and their decision on each and every point in question shall be final and binding on all parties.

 

3.                    All lots to be at the risk and charge of the purchaser from the fall of the hammer, and such lots to be taken away with faults, defects and errors of descriptions, of whatsoever nature, sort or kind without any power of dispute, at the risk and expense of the Purchaser.  NO LOT OR LOTS SHALL BE REMOVED FROM THE PREMISES ON WHICH THE SALE IS HELD UNTIL PAID FOR, nor shall any person be allowed to retract his or her bidding, but give his or her name and address on demand.  Title will not be deemed to have passed until all lots are paid for in full.

 

4.                    The Auctioneers act as agents only.  Each lot as set in the Catalogue or as divided or joined with any lot or lots at the sale at the sole discretion of the Auctioneers, is sold with all faults, imperfections and errors of descriptions, and neither the vendors nor the Auctioneers are responsible for the condition or quality of any lot.  All statements in the catalogue as to any such matters are statements of opinion and are not to be taken as, or implying, statements or representations of fact.  Purchasers are deemed to have satisfied themselves by inspection or otherwise as to all such matters and as to the physical description of any lot, neither the vendors nor the Auctioneers make or give, nor has any person in the employment of the Auctioneers any authority to make or give any representation or warranty, and in any event neither the vendors nor the Auctioneers are responsible for any representation or condition or for any statement in the catalogue.

 

5.                    For all purposes of this Sale, the Auctioneers shall be deemed to be the agents of both vendor and purchaser.

 

6.                    On failure of compliance with these conditions the Auctioneers shall be at liberty to resell the lot or lots without further notice, either by public or private sale, and any deficiency (if any) arising from such second sale, together with all charges and expenses attending the same shall be made good by defaulter at this present sale, and be recovered as and for liquidated damage.

 

7.                    Any damage caused by the removal of lots or otherwise, must be made good by the person committing the same, principal being considered responsible for the acts or their servants.

 

8.                    Every purchaser or intending purchaser comes in on the premises entirely at his, her or their own risk and by so doing they are deemed to have expressly agreed with the vendors and/or Auctioneers that they will not be held responsible for any accident whatever that may occur to any such persons due to any cause whatsoever.

 

9.                    Removal of Lots.  All lots purchased must be removed from the premises by 5.30pm Monday after the Sale unless previous arrangements have been made.

 

10.                 All lots uncleared within this time aforesaid may be resold either by Public Auction or Private Sale and the deficiency attending such resale shall with the expenses thereof be made good by the defaulted at the Sale.

 

11.                There is a 10% Buyers Premium charged on the purchase price; this is exclusive of V.A.T.

 

12.                TERMS OF PAYMENT:    Cash, Cheque, Credit Card (there is a charge for this service) or Bankers Draft on Day of Sale.  Persons wishing to pay by cheque must be prepared to furnish a letter of credit from their Bank.
